Meinongian position regarding non-existents appears unintelligible for so-called orthodox philosophers for whom it is contradictory to say there are objects that do not exist. This paper is concerned with the possibility of solving unintelligibility of Meinongians for so-called orthodox philosophers by using interpretative procedures as discussed by Lewis and later by Woodward. First, it is shown that the possibility of such an interpretation is linked essentially with the debate around necessity of a technical language for conducting ontological disputes. Second, it is argued that the interpretation of an ontological theory cannot be conclusive if existential sentences withing the theory about non-existents cannot be isolated from other parts of the theory, for example those parts concerned with modal status of objects and properties.
